Corte Madera’s first post office was established in 1878, and the town was incorporated in 1908. [6] The Corte Madera Town Center, located between Tamal Vista Boulevard and the U.S. Route 101, is a primary commercial district for the town. Corte Madera is home to the world headquarters of Timberland in Eastman Plaza off Tamal Vista Boulevard. The 1,935-acre (780 ha) preserve is jointly managed by the Marin County Parks and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
The preserve includes the 1,606-acre (649 ha) Tiburon Ridge, one of the highest ridges in the Marin Hills. The ridge is covered with grassland, chaparral, and oak woodlands. There are also some areas of Coastal Douglas fir forest. Wildlife in the preserve includes black-tailed deer, coyote, fox, raccoon, opossum, skunk, and many species of birds.

The Blithedale Summit Trailhead, located at an elevation of 2,841 feet (867 meters) in Marin County, California , offers access to the popular Blithedale Ridge Trail and breathtaking views of the surrounding area. The trailhead boasts a few parking spots; however, they are rapidly occupied on weekends and holidays. There is also a small campground close by for those wishing to stay for one or two nights.
